The Copper Cup

A large, roaring, many-leveled barn of a place, the Cup is a tavern, inn, and festhall all in one. Its sheer size and proximity to the South Gate and the docks ensures that travelers overwhelmed by the size and bustle of the City of Splendors can easily find the Cup and see much of what Waterdeep has to offer without ever stepping foot elsewhere.

The Cup consists of a trio of three- and four-story warehouses linked via walkways, catwalks, and back-alley ladders. Each goes several cellars deep, though the lower cellars reek of mildew, are prone to flooding, and see little use save the dumping of carrion and garbage.

As an inn, the Cup offers poor amenities ruled by constant noise. Its saving grace is the vast array of services quickly available, from hostlers to clothes repair. As a tavern, its loud and ever-changing clientele ensures little room for quiet conversation. It offers cheap, plentiful, and watered-down beer sold by the tankard, but inversely expensive and high-quality wine sold by the bottle.

As a festhall, the Cup is one long, ongoing party. The dancers are acrobatic and expert contortionists, the costumes are bright and leave little to the imagination, and the escorts are evocative and engaging company who know the city well, can easily play most games, and know how to have a good time.
