This article is about the worship of Ævar, for information about the Deity see Ævar.

Ævar was the previous All-God of The Five Realms, and almighty God of Fate and Time in the Realms Pantheon. He was worshipped in ancient times, and during Ævar's Return, and is said to have created the world. Though the Assault on Heaven reportedly resulted in his death, and his presence can no longer be felt, some believe that he will return a second time.

"It was I who created your world. I who gave you life. I who gave you prurpose... I am the Beginning and the End. I am that which gives you meaning. I am Ævar, and you shall never forget my name again" - Ævar

Worshippers

Though his return to the Realms Pantheon was brief, worship of Ævar had quickly spread through The Five Realms, dying out almost as quickly as it had begun following the Assault on Heaven. A few devout worshippers remain, convinced that Ævar will return again. Those who did or do worship him did so out of hope for a better fate, and out fear of a worse one if they did not. Others worship him out of love of their fate, whatever it might be, for every life had its purpose and its place, written out by his hand.

Clerics and Priests

Former Priests and Priestesses of Ævar no longer feel his presence, any divine gifts they possessed having disappeared with his death. Whilst he still lived, it was with their guidance that Ævar’s will was made known, put into place, and maintained. In the same manner that the other gods were considered his delegates, carrying out his will in divine matters, his priests, priestess and clerics were considered to be his delegates for matters of The Five Realms. The priests and priestesses of lesser gods, whilst important in their roles, were themselves considered lesser in comparison. The position of High Priestess was last held by High Priestess Mælavor'ra Ke'var.

Temples

Temples to Ævar were often restored ancient temples built in his worship thousands of years ago with circular altars, with ceremonies and sermons staged in the round. Some Sicarius temples in Arimore were also temporairly repurposed during this time. The High Temple of Ævar was within Alysium.

Beliefs

Ævar demands respect, discipline and order from his followers. It is understood that Ævar is indeed our creator, and that when he made us he ensured that each of us would have a greater purpose, even if we ourselves could not understand it. In his absence, we lost sight of that purpose and the dissatisfaction with our lives was born of the meaningless of life without it and without him. Whatever our fate, for better or worse, followers of Ævar believe we should be grateful for all that happens to us, the good and the bad, as it serves a greater purpose. They believe that their loyalty and devotion, regardless of our fates, will be rewarded eternally after death.

The faith promotes the importance of structure and hierarchy, and ensuring that everything remains in its place in order to promote harmony within the social order. It is the duty of all followers of Ævar to ensure that the ideals of each place are kept to and that no one oversteps their bounds. Should anything somehow occur that does not align with Ævar’s will, it should be corrected and the perpetrator made an example of as soon as possible.

His followers believe that the bad things that happen in life are either caused by outside evil influences, such as by demons and devils and the evils of men who have strayed from Ævar's plan, or act as a test or part of a greater plan and purpose. Those who are still faithful to Ævar following his death in the Assault on Heaven believe that Ævar will return once more in the future and defeat the Archdevil Astaroth, freeing The Five Realms from his evil influence, and that their unwavering faith shall be rewarded.

Holy Day

Omnifel was previously dedicated to Ævar both during his return and in ancient times. Dedicated followers and pantheon followers alike left more offerings to Ævar throughout the month. At the mid-point of Omnifel lay Ævar 's Holy Day, Night of Silence, spent in solitary contemplation of the year passed and of hopes and plans for the year to come.

Religious Rites

Offerings - Among usual donations of gold, typical offerings to Ævar include prized possessions and pledges of devotion.

Afterlife

Those dedicated to Ævar's worship believe that when they die they shall enter The High Citadel, where they shall live amongst the Gods themselves and be rewarded above all as devout followers of Ævar.
