Alke Sarris

The Doomed
Player Character

Backstory

Alke Sarris grew up with the monks in the Temple of the Five Elements in Aresia. It was not because she possessed any talent, her family were a big donor to the temple and when they disappeared in her early years the temple took responsibility for her upbringing.

She used to work with the Aresian government as a diplomat: a good use of her persuasion skills and an opportunity to travel and avoid being identified as a Medusa by prying eyes.

Personality

Alke is usually quite guarded. It’s hard being anything else when you’re a medusa - a race not really welcomed with open arms across Thylea. She can be cynical and wary, coming across as cold at times. Very practical, she doesn’t really believe in heroes, to a certain extent, because she doesn’t see herself as one. And who can blame her, her experience on the battlefield has not been the most positive, what with dying in Demetria’s cave and almost dying or outright panicking and feeling out of control in many of the other encounters.

Nevertheless, the experience of liberal Estoria and the new found friendship with the other heroes have softened her somewhat, at least in their company. And behind the hard exterior, she will cling to things that make her happy, like a small child that's discovered that there is some good, some hope in the world… and that can be anything from pastry to friendship, kindness and love.

Appearance

A light grey robe flows all-around a cloaked figure, glints of gold shimmering behind the hood. She is about 5’3’’ tall and rather slight, but the cloak seems to be hiding most of her figure. Underneath the cloak she wears light black long trousers and a long-sleeved shirt, covering almost all of her skin. Slightly incongruous with the hot weather of Thylea, but she seems unperturbed by the heat. Everything looks well made, of fine silks, but rather boring and plain in its final form. There is no ornament, no colour and no jewellery besides for the odd glint of a silver chain around her neck, hidden in the collar of her shirt.

However, once the hood is off the reason for the subterfuge becomes apparent - shoulder-length golden snakes for hair. Usually braided around her head but most definitely unruly every now and then. On these occasions, Slippy is required to tame (or hold) them into place. Her eyes are a dark red, turning brighter and almost golden whenever she is casting a spell.

After the encounter in Demetria’s temple she also has a green scythe magically tattooed on her left hand.  In disguise Alke will lift her hood to cover her hair and use either a dark veil or a mist-creating spell to blur out what others can see from underneath the hood. She will also add a secondary green scythe to her hand, using the disguise kit, to have a complete symbol of Lutheria.

Slippy

Slippy is a small snake, golden in colour with specks of darker red iridescent scales, very similar to the ones on the medusa's head. He is Alke's familiar.

He has taken quite a liking to the party, though he can be quite fickle in his attachment - he can be easily distracted with anything from fried chicken (or harpy) to his dislike of Pholon. His current main interest is the pseudo-dragon Aeneas
