Session 07: The Culprit

Session

Continued from Session 06: The Cistern.

Meriel thought briefly about the answer to give to Sana, and decided to go with the truth: "We're with the Vigilants."

Sana protectively clutched a pouch in her hand, worry and concern crossing her face.  Zarin hung back, out of sight, hopeful that Meriel could talk to Sana.  In the other room adjacent to the control room, Amos and Tor'in were tying up their captured Hammerfall foe. Meriel attempted to calm Sana down, but she did not want to step away from the cistern controls.

Unable to deter Sana, Zarin attempts to hit her with an arcane bolt.  The strike is true, but fizzles harmlessly around her.  Meriel makes a dive towards Sana as Zarin calls out a warning. Using a chair as a battering ram, Tor'in was able to break down the door to Sana, and he and Amos come into the room.  In a few seconds, Amos has his net over her, and Zarin grabs the pouch.  He discovers that it is filled with crushed Arrow's Point.

Sana seems upset and angry about the lack of justice in the city, at the rich denizens that don't care for those beneath them, and reveals that she did not mean to kill Kappa Adolus. Instead, Chalinus Maltinus was her intended target.  She was doing it for the Hammerfall, because her father owed them money (which she said the Keeper Sendara Thoniel helped with earlier).

The group decides to bring Sana to the Tradefair Seat of Law through the sewers to avoid meeting with any Hammerfall on the city streets.  Tor'in remembers his words to Amaiur about looking after Sana.  He, Amos, and Meriel seem to agree that although Sana is not exactly innocent, she should not have the full weight of the law put upon her.  When reaching the Seat of Law, Amos talks to Watch Commander Surt, and convinces him that her gifts should not be thrown away, but instead put to use to pay for her crimes.
