The Kingdom of Gadencia, also known as the Spire of Magic, is a nation situated against the west embankment between the Kingdom of Imperium and the Nation of Zyraitix. Its recognized as the sacred ground which magic progressed into the modern age.

Known For...

  • A profitable trade network that runs caravans through Imperium and Shuria. Their main export is recreational goods such as ale, mead, and wine, alongside a long grain supply chain.
  • Being the epicenter of magical innovation and harboring a lineage of rulers that spreads outward from the first Sorcerer King over five-hundred years prior to the advent of Gadencia's borders.
  • Harboring the remnants of the old magical age as part of their military, that being the Holy Knight Order.

Government

Gadencia rules as an absolute monarchy. The king or queen has unchecked power within its borders, although they are required by the Decernentium to work alongside the Minister of Defense for matters pertaining to war. The Minister of Defense also at times acts as an advisor to the king or queen.

The status for king or queen is an elected office, chosen from the men and women who have graduated from the Arcanum. A ballot is held at the first of every Claw of Winter to select the candidates, then the selected candidates debate in the Decorum. An event which lasts for a period of three weeks.

The Minister of Defense is simultaneously the captain of the Holy Knight Order, and rarely is the seat held by a person who does not share both roles.

Her Majesty Arryn Gwenheyth, the 131st Queen of Gadencia.

Captain Faustillus Agmulf, the 131st Minister of Defense, One-Heron Scelus Adventurer. Deceased.

Captain Freth Charmant, the 132nd Minister of Defense, A-Rank L&B Adventurer.

Population

As of the 3131 AD national census, the total residents of Gadencia total around 421,635 citizens, in addition to 138,951 working-class residents with temporary citizenship.

As per the ruling issued in 3091 AD by Her Majesty Yesthana Krisroris, Tabaxi and Tieflings are classified under genus paupertas and are not subject to the national census.

Since populations are rounded down, races below 1% on the chart are not shown.

Half-Elves 13%
Half-Orcs 11%

Their fashion emphasizes stylized light blue garments, with all genders enjoying the comfort of flowing robes and cloths. Different professions also wear clothes of their trade, such as lab coats for aspiring doctors and crest-marked robes for aspiring masters.

Economy

Much of Gadencia's economy relies on the production and export of magical items such as enchanted items, military-grade weaponry, and catalysts which are filled with magical energy for the purpose of casting spells without the ability to inherently spellcast.

While the Kingdom of Gadencia also has a thriving recreational goods market and is one of the leading producers of grain throughout the continent of Kagreth, nations such as Zyraitix pay massive dues to the inner-cities in order obtain these magical items (generally referred to as "Crests").

Gadencia's population is also extremely educated, barring the number of academic institutions in the nation.

History

Known as the Spire of Magic, Gadencia reached an age of reason (despite words for old concepts like "hell" and "damnation" still existing in the language as curse words), and no longer blindly followed the nonsense once believed by their medieval ancestors.

Decades ago, when this shift from a warlike society to an educated nation of magus happened, the Siphoning was also forgotten as a rudimentary evil art, forbidden from practice in every major province of Aprahgadencia. It is thought that this act is what caused the fracture between two major city states, birthing from the wreckage the nations of Gadencia and the Final Empire.

Apart from the center of magecraft, Gadencian style is also very unique, relying on regal and majesty beyond the extents of human comprehension. It is said the architecture of Gadencia is remarkable, due in large part to the years of magic used to create it. It is also one of the three Blessed Cities worked on by the Ancient Dwarves, with the other two being Imperium and the Final Empire.

Military

Gadencian's army is famed worldwide for its powerful clerics, sorcerers, and medical professionals. With the Kingdom of Gadencia being the epitome of learning, skilled practitioners from every part of the world make the trek to its majesty-filled walls. Perhaps contradictorily, they are also well-known for their devastating cavalry and beautiful formations, which are said to prowl the battlefield like a masterfully-concocted symphony.

See: the Merais Unit and the Order of the Holy Knights for more information.

Notable Cities

Avel Caelora, the capital of Gadencia. Well-renowned for its prestigious Arcanum (a gargantuan mage college located near the eastern-most half of the city where spellcasters from all over go to develop their talents), its prestigious Knight Academy (a large academy located to the north of Avel Caelora's town square, which trains prospective Holy Knights and also does joint training camps with Imperium's Spartan Academy), the Grand Archives (a massive library complex within the Arcanum containing books of just about anything), and its elvish architecture (grandiose spires that rise into the skies, brilliant blues and golds, painted walls that exude the upmost artistry, etc).

Empearbury, a small port town off Gadencia's easternmost border with the Great Sea. It was destroyed in an attack by the League of Evil during a Vigil for the Tragedy of Empearbury. It is currently under reconstruction efforts.

Nightstone, a fortified settlement located near the Misthaven Everglade, in the hills separating Gadencia and Imperium. It was built on the Ardeep River and consisted of a fenced island connected to an artificial motte that held the village's keep. Its name derived from a mysterious obsidian obelisk in the center of the village that had strange glyphs carved into it and emanated a magic aura.

Ebonreach, a mid-sized town located to the west of Gadencia proper, near the Zyraitix border. It is well-known for its massive cobble walls and towers which spread throughout the city, as well as the Orichalcum Forest just outside its fortifications. Often called the "Hanging Forest", it is said to be a place where those lacking purpose go to pass on to the next world.

Notable Locations

The Misthaven Everglade is a forest that runs near the Spine of the World up north of Avel Caelora. It is said to be a bridge to the Feywild, and is filled with fey creatures and other mystical elements. It is revered land for its connection to the elves who originally colonized Gadencia during the long ago, during the times of Aprahgadencia.

The Final Empire, also known as Shaltia, is an imperial magistrate controlled by the military overseer and dictator of its western-most province. Its one of the largest nations, with roots in both Kagreth and Siré.

On Kagreth, the Empire borders the Kingdom of Shuria to the north, the Sovereignty of Accord to the west, and the Nation of Sollabring to the south. On Siré, it exclusively borders Ur.

Known For...

  • Controlling the most land of any kingdom on the continent of Kagreth.
  • Maintaining the largest army in both Kagreth and Siré.
  • Having the largest weapon production market of any nation in Kagreth, although they do not export their products outside the Empire.

Government

The Final Empire is a nation exclusively ruled by the Final Emperor, Arkathian Shalt. It functions as an authoritarian regime with religious extremity, and the Final Emperor depending on the situation rules as both an absolute monarch and dictator.

There is no freedom of speech in the Final Empire, nor are traditional rights upheld within its borders. It also has the longest and strangest legal codes out of any developed nation.

King Arkathian Shalt, the 132nd Emperor of Shaltia, Council Member, Three-Heron Blacklist Adventurer.

Arkathian Shalt has been given the title of "Final Emperor" as he has ruled the Final Empire for a consecutive nine-hundred and thirty years.

Population

As of the 3131 AD national census, the total residents of the Final Empire total around 739,510 citizens and 530,857 slaves.

Since populations are rounded down, races below 1% on the chart are not shown. In addition, while a large chunk of the population is Warforged, since they lack sentience, they are also not shown on the chart.

Humans 30%
Tieflings 29%
Elves 12%
Locathah 11%
Vedalken 9%
Changeling 5%
Drow 3%
Aasimar 1%

The Final Empire's fashion resembles their materialistic ideology. Most of the population do not own clothes for personal outings, only wearing clothes from their trade and jobs.

Economy

The Final Empire makes most of its money through slave labor, with a vast majority of the Empire's vast land existing as empirical land. Owned directly by the monarchy, these areas are exclusively used to produce raw materials like ore and food.

Slave death is common in the Final Empire, complete with low wages and hazardous working conditions (after all, a slave mine can operate with dying workers). The minuscule wages, combined the Final Empire's position near the center of Kagreth and the untapped veins of Siré, have made it extremely profitable.

In addition, the Final Empire spends nearly fifty-percent of all of its income on military.

History

From the split of Aprahgadencia, the Final Empire was born as an answer to the eternal question which plagued ancient historians for centuries: "What is the final form of governance?"

The Final Empire submitted its answer with an iron fist, military rule, and law by act of fear.

Some laws in the Final Empire are as follows:

• Saluting to someone one rank below you or requesting a salute is extremely disrespectful.
• Every single time you salute, it is the equivalent of offering up part of your soul.
• Writing with your right hand is seen as very informal, and generally one only writes ledgers with their right hand in the presence of a lover.
• Carrying more than 200 primitives is a grave offense of the law.
• Overpaying is a arrestable offense.
• Holding someone else's Book of Law can get you executed.
• Books of Law are engraved with magic, naming you in the book permanently.
• A bronze porcelain elephant is used often as a way to summon a calling girl into your chambers at less reputable inns. High inns will use gold elephants.
• A porcelain tiger is a way to show affection, and can generally be used to start a relationship with someone. The tier of pence the tiger is made of is equal to the love you currently feel for them.
• Lying about your identity is punishable by death.
• If a Head Captain or higher approaches you, and you are not of equal rank or higher, you must hold your hand in a fist by your heart. If you do not, you can be fined at minimum and sent to the gallows at maximum.
• Discussing the laws is okay, as long as you are seeking to strengthen them or increase their effectiveness. Arguing about the severity of laws and seeking to downgrade them is punishable by death.
• Wielding a power weapon without being of First Decimator or higher is punishable by death.
• Selling information is punishable by up to five years in prison.
• Attempting to undercut a transaction will cost you double the price of that transaction.
• Public whippings are common if you are out past the global curfew.
• Submitting incorrect ledgers is punishable by up to ten years in prison.
• Presenting an incorrect ID number, even by accident, is punishable by up to five years in prison.
• Unsanctioned celebration is punishable by up to three years in prison.
• Attempting to auction off any goods in the "List of Archaism" is punishable by death.
• Speaking ill of the Great Emperor is punishable by death and imprisonment of any individuals who do not immediately reprimand you.
• Entering a noble bathhouse without proper rank is punishable by up to twenty years in prison.
• Offering services of a sexual nature without being employed by an inn is punishable by death.
• Meeting with a Shurian is punishable by death.
• Worship of any lesser deities is punishable by death.
• Mention of "Athena" or the Sanctums is punishable by death.
• Grand treason can be modified at will to adapt to the situation.
• Dignity must be shown in arrest, or it will be upgraded to death by gallows.
• Requesting a gallow death will result in the individual receiving a gallow death.
• Eating noble food on days that do not equate celebration or in areas not sanctioned by a noble is punishable by up to five years in prison.
• Drinks cannot be mixed by gender. Female drinks and male drinks must be kept separately. Any inn, by accident or on purpose, breaking this rule will be shut down and fined.
• Running away from the law immediately upgrades the punishment to death by gallows.
• Humans must hide their face from High Nobles if the High Nobles are wearing purple. Non-humans must grovel.
• If the High Noble requests it while wearing purple, the humans must also grovel.
• Having children that are not admitted by the Center of Law is punishable by forced separation and forced military recruitment of the child in question.

Military

The Final Empire's military is expansive, vast, and nearly unstoppable. Nearly sixty-percent of the population in involved in the military in some way. Many soldiers are conscripted, others are forced into the battlefield against their will, and many more are non-sentient Warforged.

Funneling vast amounts of wealth into the military has given the Final Empire a nearly incontestable arsenal of weapons, including the Chain Axe, a behemoth-sized weapon measuring over fifteen-feet long and weighing several tons. These are the weapon of choice for the Final Empire's Decimators.

The Nation of Zyraitix, also known as the Civitatem Machina, is a nation situated against the west embankment between the Kingdom of Gadencia and the Kingdom of Imperium.

Known For...

  • Being the most technologically advanced country in the world, surpassing even Oligarchy of Accord, United Federation of Slecrotor, and the Kingdom of Imperium's innovations.
  • Largely being anti-magic, with less than 0.1% of Zyraitix's population being able to command magical energy.
  • Its governance running as a heavy-handed surveilant state, with little autonomy in its populous, focusing more on the collective whole.

Government

Zyraitix rules as a monarchy with direct democracy. While the king and queen both share many powers within the country (particularly grant efforts and trade), the citizens vote each individually vote for new laws.

Because of this, there is no representative system in Zyraitix. Each citizen votes using an online poll or, if they're a nasod, connecting to the Autonomous Database through a microchip implanted in the hippocampus.

The King is directly elected by the Queen of Zyraitix to share power as she manages the nation. A small group of able-bodied nasods meet in front of the Matriarchal Building in order to receive their nominations. The Queen herself is chosen by the Will of Code, the remnants of an ancient AI who was born near the beginning of the world.

Uniquely, there are no titles for members of the monarchy, and they are generally addressed by their given names.

Eve, the 3rd Queen of Zyraitix, Council Member, Gold-Heron Tek Adventurer (Hunt).

Cyphirin, the 9th King of Zyraitix.

Population

As per the 3131 AD Virtual Census, the total residents of the Nation of Zyraitix total to be around 1,298,375 citizens.

Since populations are rounded down, races below 1% on the chart are not shown.

Name Percentage
Half-Nasods 23%
Nasods 21%
Humans 20%
Servos 17%
Warforged 16%
Aarakocra 2%
Tiefling 1%

Economy

Zyraitix's economy is primarily focused on spreading technological luxuries to the other common countries. An example of goods they've largely exported into other lands include: refrigerators, television, microwaves, telephones, street lights, and many other innovations.

Since a lot of countries lack a steady supply of magia crystals, Zyraitix's technology is generally preferred to those produced by Gadencia, as they are powered through electricity rather than magical energy.

Beyond that, Zyraitix also produces a wide variety of products. As a socialist society which evolved as a natural evolution from a capitalist one, there is no shortage of recreational cereals, drinks, restaurants, among other businesses (both large and small).

History

Passed down from king to king, an ancient story detailing the birth of Zyraitix goes as follows:

For thousands of years, peace was found between the Nasods and their Deictic Overlords, until a catastrophic battle unfolded between the Nasods and the Human Dark.

Years passed, and Adam, the First King of Nasods, began his mission to destroy all of the Human Dark. Imperius wished for peace between the Human Dark and the Nasods, but in order to accomplish this, he would need to create a new type of being:

Humans.

Imperius, the First of the Dead, found a way to end his life, and from his body humanity was born. Adam, at that point, had become corrupted—he was unable to acknowledge this new form of being, as his original soul had died long ago. In the midst of the war, it was instead a young white-haired boy that destroyed the last remnants of Adam on Asmion, and the Nasods began to die.

It was then a single fragment of life was breathed into a slumbering woman. A piece of the Etherfire, an impossible object said to grant any wish. As it encompassed her body, her eyes flew open, only to witness the last of her race crumble to their knees.

With access to the Network that connected all life, she quickly fixed the corruption the Nasod King left behind. She rebuilt the Network, and within the next few moments, the Nasods began to stand up once more.

"Empress, prithee giveth us thy nameth." Eingor asked, bowing before the intensity of the woman's aura.

"Calleth me Code, and bid thy cater-cousins this: those gents art free to liveth, those gents art free to breatheth. We shall undo this travesty, and asketh humanity for peace."

She stepped forward, placing her hand upon Eingor's head, and the world became a little brighter.

"I cometh with child, to which I henceforth name Eve. Protecteth her with thy liveth, for the lady shalt become the true queen."

Military

The queen has the power to declare war; the king decides the terms of how war should be waged.

Zyraitix’s military forces are known to be highly technologically advanced; the nation has significant capabilities in both defense and power projection, resulting in advanced and powerful technologies. On the perimeters of their border are early warning systems. Any hacking attempts into their systems would be immediately counteracted, but their systems are entirely digital.

All military units have a designation letter and a designation number, respectively. Combat Nasods consists of the majority of the armed forces. Undercity Operatives are the second largest group unit that prune underwater creatures near Zyraitix’s foundation. Non-combat nasods who wish to serve in the military receive upgrades as a Production unit. They are engaged directly in the support system, performing intelligence tasks and relay information to both combat and undercity nasods and other military units. Other races are more than welcome to join the military.

Notable Cities

Arc, the Capital of Zyraitix. Nominally led by an elected mayor, the city is run by competing mega-corporations such as Vash Enterprises, the Zaibatsu Corporation, and Aztechnology. Arc relies on imports to support its heavily-urbanized populous, importing nearly 90% of their consumer goods. Many of the advanced technologies tested in Glitch find their way to the general public. Products such as nano-machine based wallpaper, flooring, and even underwear are available for purchase online.

Glitch, the proverbial testing ground for much of Zyraitix's advanced technology. Security, medical, and military technologies are tested en-mass on a semi-captive populace. While citizens are granted the opportunity to refuse, much of this testing is done through economic stimulus bills passed by the centrally-housed corporations such as Aztechnology, which directly translates into economic advantages given to those who go through with testing. These technologies are deployed en-mass in Glitch before being adopted elsewhere. State ethic committees handle the distribution of tests, although how much these committees are in the pockets of the bigger corporations are unknown.

Notable Mega-Corporations

Dragons don't live alone at the top of the food chain anymore. The day the Collapse ended, governments took a backseat to more powerful forces. Corporations became the architects of our awareness. Education, the news, even social media is filtered through outlets they control. The corporate agenda is transparent. The goal of every existing corporate structure is to make gold. They accomplish this goal well, and as a result, corporations influence Zyraitix more than any other type of employer a resident may encounter.

(The following corporations are sorted from the most powerful to the least.)

1. Zaibatsu Corportation

Corporate Slogan: "One Step Beyond"
Corporate Status:
AAA, private corporation

Corporate Focus: Media manipulation, Evolution technologies, Pharmaceuticals.

Zaibatsu is a mega corporation that owns, among other things, the White Knights and either owns or manipulates a number of media outlets such as The Augmented Eye. Many demonize Zaibatsu as the source of everything that's wrong and corrupt in Zyraitix, although Zaibatsu has also done beneficial work as well. For example they started the AI Integration Program, which has lead to countries around the world seeing the benefits of recognizing AI as citizens.

The medical branch of Zaibatsu has also made incredible advancements, with more and more diseases that were previously thought of as being incurable being treated every year. However, this medical technology is often only accessible to people who can afford it, and many lower to middle class citizens are left without treatment.

They are currently the #1 most powerful mega-corporation in Zyraitix, and are perhaps the leading benefactor in Evolution technology. In Zyraitix, they are the premier metahuman employer, leading to their establishment of the all-metahuman police force, Lone Star, a worldwide police force with headquarters in Arc. This is notable, because if you’re wanted by Lone Star in one part of the world, then that warrant extends globally. That is how far their political connections lie.

2. Vash

Corporate Slogan: "Advancing Life"
Corporate Status: AAA, public corporation

Corporate Focus: Lifestyle, Military, Pharmaceuticals.

Vash is the corporation every teenager wants to work for. Vash doesn't sell trends, they create them. You can bet that new trend has been crowdsourced, vetted, deconstructed, re-analyzed, and proofed before being foisted on the public as a spontaneous emergence.

A new company in the grand scheme of Zyraitix mega-conglomerate politics, Vash was born out of a desire to spread new technology to the masses at a cheaper, more affordable price. Much of their advertising it done in a way to make the business seem at odds, or perhaps a viable alternative, to Zaibatsu production. This explains their involvement in the pharmaceutical industry, and while their pricing is abhorrent, it is significantly less than their leading competitor, Zaibatsu (at least when medical insurance is concerned).

Beyond being trend-setters and competing against their more-established brethren, Vash is the world leader in combat applications. The rank-and-file of Vash security is Knight Errant, a subsidiary that is second only to Lone Star as a worldwide police force. This is notable, because if you’re wanted by the Knight Errant in one part of the world, then that warrant extends globally. That is how far their political connections lie.

This is the one avenue where Vash could go about improving their operation, as there is plenty of work to go around cleaning up their military branch's image. Rumors abound of other difficulties behind the scenes, including their longstanding battle with Aztechnlogy. The stories say they have explored many paths to ending their troubles. Some of their solutions may well be explosive.

3. Mitsuhama Computer Technologies

Corporate Slogan: "The Future, Brought to You by Mitsuhama"
Corporate Status: AAA, public corporation

Corporate Focus: Cars, Technology.

Mitsuhama is massive, efficient, and faithful to the Yonian Imperial State. Except that last one is not entirely true. No other company has done such a good job of hiding the truth of what goes on inside their boardrooms. It is a credit to the Yonian way of business that the company has stayed so steadfast and silent. However, since their rise to number one, the company has suffered from success fatigue and the lines of solidarity are beginning to fracture.

Each of the major shareholders has begun privately selling off stock holdings to unknown parties. Under normal circumstances, change is good. However, change at the top of the Big Ten tends to come with chaos. Despite their high-ranking presence in Zyraitix, many citizens are uncomfortable having a corporation under the leadership of a foreign CEO.

4. Aztechnology

Corporate Slogan: "For a Better Tomorrow"
Corporate Status: AAA, private corporation

Corporate Focus: Private population testing, Technology, Media manipulation.

Aztechnology relishes in population-testing, leading to their establishment of the young Zyraitix city Glitch. The corporation evolved from a collaboration of drug cartel leaders who were treated like folk heroes in their hometowns. Aztechnology is a way of life. When the company’s beliefs shift, the beliefs of a nation shift with it. This folk-hero mythos makes Aztechnology extremely dangerous on their home turf.

Outside of Zyraitix, the company works to build that type of public support with the people and cities with which it interacts. Yet, behind the façade, Aztechnology is dedicated to two things: growing its brand and expanding its land. It was this fact that led them to butting heads with Vash, after a disagreement over the expansion into Avel Caelora. This disagreement was not ended with flowers, but with violence, an act which some are still grumbly about today.

5. Saedar

Corporate Slogan: "We Are You"
Corporate Status: AAA, public corporation

Corporate Focus: Nuclear power.

Perhaps the oldest recognized mega-corporation, Saedar suffers from the failure of notoriety. The company’s energy production and manufacturing divisions are household names. However, the company’s other named divisions traditionally underperform when given the Saedar label.

People still don't expect the company running the power plant to be named after the one serving them store-packaged burritos. Disconnected branding led to the company lingering near the bottom of the top ten for years.

It is for this reason (among others) that Saedar has grown less complacent as of late. With Zaibatsu stealing their #1 spot, the mega-corporate audit dropping their ranking significantly, and the rise of the newly-founded Vash, Saedar's business tactics have grown a lot more aggressive.
