04 - Town Shops and Services

Rules

This includes information about services the town provides and establishments where characters can purchase items during downtime, in between quests.


First Landing Level 10

The town provides members of the Explorers' Guild with basic adventurer services, and a collection of local shops and professions. While not on a quest, your characters are free to spend gold on any of the following establishments, and benefit from any services they provide.

Some of these shops can be upgraded through ventures, while others level up automatically when the town does. Once 3 of the 5 main shops level up, the whole town increases a level. This level affects, not only the services the town provides, but the efficiency of earning income using downtime.

If you have access to uncommon items (for example from a Feature or a Feat), you can order them (or their formulas) from the Old World for their base price, but only if their level is equal or less than yours. You can sell every item for half its price. Let a GM know if you sold a Unique or Rare Magic Item so it is put on auction instead.


Central Marketplace

These shops can be upgraded (check out "Ventures" below), and determine the Town's Level. Once 3 of the 5 have level up, the whole town increases a level. However, no shop can be two levels above the lowest level shop. Each offers their corresponding items up to their SHOP LEVEL.

Smithy Level 11

  • Sells common non-magical and magical weapons, armors and shields, and fundamental runes. And their formulas.
  • Repair broken non-magical items for free.
  • Can reforge any weapon you possess into the same weapon made of a different material, if you pay the cost (common materials such as cold iron and silver are sold in town, exotic materials must be provided)

Apothecary - Level 9

  • Sells common alchemical items. And their formulas.

General Store - Level 10

  • Sells common adventuring gear and (non-alchemical, non-scroll) consumable item. And their formulas.

Thaumaturge - Level 8

  • Sells common scroll, staves, wands and grimoires. And their formulas.
  • Transfers runes for free.

Artificer - Level 10

  • Sells common held or worn magical item. And their formulas.


Other services

There are other professionals that offer their services to the Explorers' Guild , but are not upgraded by completing ventures. Instead, they automatically level-up with the town. They offer items up to FIRST LANDING'S LEVEL, and their services improve as the town grows.

Stables (Ahmad)

  • Sells common animals and mounts. It also offers rental services.
  • Sells combat-trained Hippogriffs (300 gp each). Rental for 15 gold per day
  • Sells combat-trained Megalictis (100 gp each). Rental for 3.3 gold per day

Wainwright (?)

  • Sells common vehicles. And their formulas.

Bookshop (?)

  • Sells copies of the following Scholarly Journals:
    • "Rydess, Queen of the Desert" by Fawkes the Traveler (Rydess Lore)
    • "Of Staff and Wand: An Arcane Primer" (Arcane Theory Lore)
    • "Anatomical Atlases of the Apex Race" (Elven Surgery Lore)

  • Offers Occult spellcasting (up to 4th-level spells)
