The main special effects staff member of the Gaiety of Visage is Hyalos, an overworked and perpetually tired half-Draxie, half-Gargoyle. Their body is covered in rocky scales, and their wings are cracked in places, revealing a mesmerising stained glass interior. He was first encountered during the quest All Work and No Play.

Their mother was a Draxie, and their father a Gargoyle who disguised himself as a 'lesser Visage', which was seen as a child of Visage itself, its messenger, or something other equally important. A temporary cult was formed around this false 'Visage', and Hyalos' mother was a priestess of this cult. She was aware of the Gargoyle's true nature, helping him with upkeeping the façade, and the two eventually got romantically involved. After some time, however, this trick was discovered, and the Gargoyle was angrily banished from Visage, and the Draxie priestess followed him.

The resulting child of this romance, Hyalos, is now an Alchemist and a magical crafter with odd and disorienting categorisation systems for his ingredients, materials and components. Highly in demand, he is constantly trudging through a backlog of commissions, but if someone is willing to be cooperative and helpful, Hyalos will bump the new job up and handle it immediately.

They can be quite a chatty gossiper when given an opportunity, but are otherwise often annoyed and lonely, because some people of Visage still see him as a profane outcast, and his parents as blasphemers, while others see him as nothing more than a peculiar attraction, or just one of many workers, tolerated due to being required for the Gaiety to function.

You're welcomed by the sounds of water gently splashing against some shore, and then you enter a spacious clearing. There is a pond, almost perfectly circular, and on its fringes, and in the middle, there are some overgrown, crumbling ruins of something that was clearly greater and glorious in its heyday, but it is now reduced to the mere shadow of its former self. It is lush and vibrant, and occasionally decorated with shimmering and glimmering objects, flowers, fungi and fabrics.

Dreamwaters are a smaller region within Eleutheria, ruled by Lady Nacrea. The circular pond surrounding these ruins has a soporific and hallucinogenic effect on those who sleep near it, sometimes even leading to shared dreams.

"These are the Dreamwaters. They have... an odd effect on the sleeping mind. Nothing dangerous, but they have a tendency to make one... drowsy, unfocused, and yearning for the warm embrace of somnolence. This phenomenon occurs by the time the sun is almost gone, so it's quite useful when you're trying to make yourself comfortable and have a good night's rest."
