Matty Pineton came into the world in the year 2956 ADM, born in a village nestled near Fairgrave. His father, Asmon Pineton, was a seasoned wizard and a well-known duelist in the criminal underworld where only the strongest survived. His mother, Linda Forester, was an herbalist and healer who tended to the sick and weak in nearby villages. In his youth, Matty learned elements from two very different worlds. His mother taught him the healing properties of herbs and mushrooms gathered from the nearby forests, using them to mend wounds and alleviate pain. She also imparted the wisdom of taking only what nature could spare, for disrupting this balance through selfishness would invite nature's retribution. His father, on the other hand, introduced him to the arcane arts, a tradition passed down through generations of the Pineton family. Their relationship, however, was strained due to his father's demanding and rigorous approach to teaching.

In the year 2960 ADM, when Matty was just fourteen, his father decided it was time for him to participate in an illegal magic tournament. Through underhanded tactics learned from his combative father, Matty defeated peers such as the sixteen-year-old Edar Smid, the sixteen-year-old Joanna Ramis, and even the eighteen-year-old Bassel Finn. Matty was relieved that he could spare his opponents, but Asmon was elated by the machine he had molded, sensing that Matty had yet to reach his full potential. One fateful night, Asmon dragged Matty out of their home and challenged him to a duel. He pushed Matty to his limits, fueling his rage to the point where Matty unleashed a fireball at his father, momentarily gaining his approval. However, this fleeting pride turned to sorrow as Matty accidentally struck their home's window, setting it ablaze. His mother could not be saved, and in a moment of panic, Matty fled, vowing to never again have anything to do with magic.

The following years were arduous for Matty. Consumed by guilt, he embarked on a path of despair, sleeping in the woods, subsisting on meager wildlife, and drowning in loneliness and sorrow. In abhorrence of his father, out of love for his mother, and as a painful burden he would carry forever, he adopted his mother's surname, Forester. In 2973 ADM, Matty began rebuilding his life through a different set of skills: charming conversations, distributing wine, gambling, and swindling. It wasn't the life he had envisioned, but it was better than dining on worms, and he excelled at it. Matty taught ambitious traders, in his profitable way, a poignant lesson from his past: even the mightiest players could lose it all. A year later, Matty lost his source of income. The traders had learned to steer clear of the silver-haired, silver-tongued man. However, he received an invitation from the Shadow Guild, a thieves' guild in Oakheart, led by Fifteen Fingered Fred. In 2978 ADM, the thieves guild suffered a devastating blow as mercenaries stormed their headquarters within an old cathedral. Fifteen Fingered Fred met a gruesome end, hanging from the cathedral's bell until his neck gave way, a twelve-day ordeal. Fortunately, Matty managed to escape alongside an unknown Rogue elf, but they parted ways shortly after. The guild members scattered and continued to live in the shadows, biding their time for revenge. Matty decided to keep a low profile for the time being.

By 2980 ADM, Matty overheard rumors of a substantial treasure awaiting a worthy claimant—this treasure could fund the creation of a new Thieves Guild, one with the aim of restoring balance between the rich and the poor. He crossed paths with General Gerald Coppertile, who introduced him to a group of adventurers searching for the treasure. He joined this group, which would later become known as the Noble Warriors.
