Terminology Confusion
The terms “Pseudodragon” and “True Dragon” are actually very misleading terms, as it implies that the species classified as Pseudodragons are not actually Dragons but merely look like them. This is not the case; rather these species have simply diverged so much from an evolutionary standpoint from the elemental Dragons that they have become pretty much their own thing entirely, hence why the term “Descendent Dragons” is used instead in some scientific circles. The name also gives the implication that they are not as dangerous; while they are not as powerful as the True Dragons, they are still very dangerous for a variety of reasons. Dragonlings are the exception to this, as they tend to not be dangerous unless directly threatened, and in fact can be openly endearing which has led to them becoming quite popular as pets.
