An elven priestess of Leannan, Moirin Mhic Macdha is believed to have travelled extensively across Orth, though her place of origin and indeed most of her history remains unknown. What is known is that roughly eighteen months ago she appeared in Redpride Village and rapidly ingratiated herself with the Chief.
Using what she claims to be Leannite magics, Moirin was able to assist Afzal Jabbar with siring a son, named Faiz, though the child's mother Muneeb died in childbirth. After such a favour, the Chieftain, who had long wished for a son, holds the priestess in exceptional regard, considering her a close advisor and confidant. She remained in Redpride village, where she had considerable influence on the old lion's decisions.
Over the course of A Gathering Storm, the party discovers that the ritual allowed Moirin to mind control Afzal, leading him to murder Aazhag Threefinger, the Chief of Tribe Threefinger. After her arrest, she revealed to Xil that she was a member of the Wood Elf Scouts and she was trying to avert the Shadowborn Prophecy as Zibrust was destined to burn large parts of the Imperial Troll Empire to the ground. Though she attempted to escape with the aid of Xil, she was executed by Afzal, though Xil used illusion magic to fake a resurrection.
The flashback epilogue to Moirin's resurrection reveals that she knew that Wretch "Shadowborn" was the real Shadowborn all along, due to his sorcerous power, albinism, and physical deformities which she took as marks of Dezrael. She was deliberately tricking Xil Wrenlow into murdering Zibrust so as to fulfil the prophecy, as she wanted revenge on the Empire for the Sack of Caislean, her childhood home, in the name of Leannan the Wrathful Mother. It is implied in the final epilogue that her visions and magic were not sent by Leannan, but instead by Dezrael who was wearing Leannan's face for his chess match against The Nameless One.
