The Overseers is a small research group created and founded in Gadencia, though by 'who' is an answer that not many know the actual answer to. On the surface, it's an organization operated and run by a man named Christian Sterling, a wizard and scientist originally from Sollabring. A former soldier in the Zyraitix military, he retired from warfare following an almost life-ending injury and instead chose to become a scientist.
Fast-forward a couple decades, and he became a very successful scientist and researcher living in Zyraitix. Somewhere along the line, he got the idea for The Overseers and, with a bit of funding from a military friend, kicked it off of the ground. He made a name for himself as an inventor alongside his partner, Dr. Johnathan Ackroyd, though the two would not remain partners following Ackroyd's retirement.
Currently, The Overseers remains a small research team based in Gadencia and Zyraitix specifically. While their actions are generally unknown, they are known to consistently release research papers, proof of activity, and consistently answer to both the Gadencian government as well as the Zyraitix military, as they used to be contract-creators for the military as a whole.
Notes about The Overseers:
- The Overseers is more infamous than it is famous, as the group is mostly known for it's previous collaboration with The Grand Army. That said, their relevance has dropped over the years and nowadays, they're much more unknown than, say, a couple decades ago.
- Many a research paper involve the collaboration between technology and magic can be traced back to the Overseers, either written by the group as a whole or written by Sterling himself or other team members, such as Ackroyd, though papers written by him would be much older in comparison.
- Christian Sterling himself is known to live on the edges of Gadencia, as can be found with a little bit of research. His previous partner, however, is presumed dead. Most of the work they've done together is kept secret, either out of personal choice or because its connected to higher powers than The Overseers themself.
- Due to their falling off the grid, the current work of The Overseers is mostly unknown. They still release papers and work, but main goals and the such are, clearly, kept out of public eye.
