"I pledge myself to the Court of Lead and Ash. To the Season of Ripe and Reaping.
I pledge to embody the fear that once controlled me and to, like before, never accept my fate.
I pledge to twist that which seeks to bind me and find leverage where it suits me.
I will cheat my enemies of their dues and bend the tools of the Fae back upon them.
All this I pledge to Autum."

- The Autumn Court Pledge

The Others took many things from their slaves, say the Courtiers of Fear, but they also gave things back — not least of which is power. Autumn studies that power, developing knowledge and magic and conquering (or reaching an arrangement with) their own fears so that if the Fair Folk come to call the Autumn courtiers can fight them back with their own magic. Their magic can sniff out others' greatest fears, immunize themselves and others against fear, inflict magical maladies, summon hailstorms, and improve the courtiers' mystical perceptions. They alternate between Fear and Bargaining.

When Sydney’s Autumn rolls around, there is a moment of bleak peace. It is the calm before the storm, and the air is crisp and electric. Autumn is a time of hollo noise, where the crack of thunder rings louder for the natural silence. The crack and creep of leaves sends shivers with each step.
