Innsmouth

Innsmouth was built before the Demon Equilibrius. It was once a much larger settlement. It was a city the size of Eadwald - The Capital City of Eadwald  or City-state of Gaddel  . Today it is a large town still using the city that was built so long ago. There are miles of ruins around the Bridge over the Tobol  river. There is even the ruins of a second bridge that collapsed several thousand years ago. These buildings are maintained well, but the only exterior changes over the years are these colorful mosaic tile patterns.

These colorful mosaics are called Rangoli. On the 20th of Mithrim (spring) people start to create sand versions of the Rangoli all over Innsmouth. Some people even go into the ruins around the settlement and create Rangoli out there as well. So all over the town and ruins these really colorful patterns show up.

This settlement is never a destination for any one. everyone that comes to Innsmouth is traveling some place else, either Eadwald or Northgate. The entire economy is based on tolls on the bridge and the taverns along the road on the Northgate side of town. The prices drop as you travel farther from the bridge. The quality is variable and not connected to prices in most cases.

Crime in Innsmouth is organized into small clans. The town council has some rules that they have shared with the crime clans. As long as they follow the town rules they are able to steal and move drugs as they like. Mostly anyone that is actually a town resident is off limits. It makes for strange dynamics as most of the crime happens only during the caravan season. Most caravans pay a tax to avoid crime against the caravan, but once someone leaves the protection of the caravan, they are on their own. Gambling, drugs, and prostitution are the main industries running along the road from the bridge to edge of town. Barkers are always trying to draw folks into their shops.

Government

Innsmouth is run by a Royal Council. They are beholden to the crown and make sure to pay the taxes that they need to pay. They make money from travels. The council allows criminal gangs to operate as long as they follow the rules of the council.

Defences

Mostly just the early warning towers.

Districts

The Main Market Road

This is the main attraction for all travelers. It starts on one end with the Caravan Hall and Bridges and ends at the Circle of Wagons and the Innsmouth Arena.

The Old Town

The is the section of the reclaimed city where the residents live. They live just beyond the Main Market Road. Like any other tourist city, there are people that live and never travel out to the market road.

The Ruins

Innsmouth is one of the oldest places in N. Mosley. It was once a very large city. Based on the time of the ruins some time before the Demon Equilibrius the city collapsed. there are miles of ruins on all directions from the core settlement and Bridge. When they grow, they move into Ruins near the current city core.

Guilds and Factions

Many Demon Hunters clans, Criminal Gangs, and Merchant Traders.

Points of interest

Innsmouth Arena

The Innsmouth Arena is the third largest arena in North Morley. The ones in Eadwald and Gaddel are much larger but for this North City it is an amazing structure. It was built Before Demons (BD) and is said to have been the last stand at least twice during two demon attacks in the Post Demons (PD) period and once in the DemonEquilibruis (DE) period.

Competing in the Arena is not easy. Well that is not true. It is easy, but to compete with your preferred weapon choice is not easy. If you show up without a Writ of Combatum from Eadwald, you can only enter as a "Slave" combatant. This does not imply you are a slave, it just mean that you are not given any concern as to how you enter the arena. You might come in blindfolded with daggers, or be forced to fight a tiger barehanded.

Circle of Wagons

this is the only permanent market in the city. There are some merchants and farmers that always setup wagons in the Circle, but this is really meant for the caravans that come through. As a way to cover some of the taxes for traveling through the Innsmouth, most caravans have about 1 in 6 of their wagons setup in the circle and sell wears to the residents of Innsmouth.  It becomes a carnival during the Caravan season.

Market Street Pop-up Markets

most of the building along the main road are setup to take money from travels. Remember that from here north it become dangerous and this is the last real settlement until Northgate. This street has taverns, gambling halls, and brothels. On the darker side many of these places have secret rooms for dust and poppers. If you are interested in drugs they are available.

The bottom floor of most of these places has a big covered area just in front of the business. This is invested for one wagon. They will let a wagon park in front of their business and sell wears. Typically the wagon will sell items related to the business. Alcohol, cured meat, and cheese will be found in front of a tavern. The quality will somewhat match the tavern within. Love potions and toys can be found in front of any brothel.

Stomach Bag

These are secret markets within the Old town. They mostly sell supplies for Demon Guild Members. They setup here, as it is a little safer than setting up in Northgate. Remember the ruins. They use secret places within the ruins to test and construct dangerous equipment for guild members.

Caravan Hall

This is only open when a caravan is coming through town. This is where they will pay bridge tolls and get information from the road ahead. It is the only building used on this side of the river.

Innsmouth Bridge

This amazing structure dates to BD. it used to have a sister bridge just up the river, but that collapsed a few hundred years ago. The rumor is that the town council at the time destroyed it to make this bridge more valuable. It is the only way across the river in this area.
