The Labori are a designation of dwarven construct designed to operate indefinitely on Xanthan Orb-powered ioun stones, after the dwarves discovered that the orb found far beneath Lithos charged ioun stones with a seemingly limitless source of power.
Unfortunately, at some point after mass production began, the Labori began to exhibit troubling behavior. Dedicated workers accompanying the Labori went suddenly missing, and objects left unattended would disappear in the presence of a Labori. Labori would even let themselves into restricted areas. Before the dwarves fully understood what was happening, the Labori - firmly under Xanthan's influence - had taken control of Lithos, the seat of dwarven power.
