Session Four

The Sewers

The following morning, the party prepared to enter the sewers.

Guided by Chess and accompanied by Renaer and Jalester Silvermane, who Nedria contacted the night before for assistance, they navigated Waterdeep's sewers looking for the spoked-eye sign of the Xanathar. Despite their discovery of a dumped and waterlogged corpse, the journey was uneventful and they eventually arrived at the sewer hideout at the end of the guildsign trail.


The Hideout

Though briefly delayed by a colour-coded puzzle worked into its entrance, the group began their trek through the hideout. Along the way, they defeated several members of the Xanathar Guild and a grey ooze, and gathered some sparkly rocks and spare coppers as treasure.

Finally, they located their quarry. They found Fleur being tortured by an orcish wizard in what seemed to be a theatrical display overseen by a tentacle-faced purple figure and its pet, a brain on legs. As they attacked, the orc's overseer left and a short, brutal fight began.

Outnumbered and beset on all sides, the wizard and brain creature both were quickly defeated and Fleur was secured. The search for the wizard's overseer bore little fruit, but the party did find:

  • The orcish wizard's spellbook
  • 2 healing potions
  • A carved bone statuette
  • 2 tiger's eye gemstones
  • 27 gp, 113 sp, and 250 cp

They also discovered a hidden passage leading up to the private cellar of a halfling family, unbeknown to the family in question. After calming the family, the party departed for Renaer's home once more to clean, rest, and recover.
