Brynn Sylvaran

Captain of The Nerve
Player Character

Brynn was raised in an orphanage before being pulled into working on a ship. She worked under green sails for a couple years. The ship she was sold onto was attacked by pirates and she was conscripted into service on the pirate captain Darrow’s ship.

When the captain saw her power over the winds and her defiant nature, he saw potential in the girl. Darrow was the first person to ask her name. She’d gotten used to being called ‘girl’ or having to tell people her name. She took the name Sylvaran. Darrow taught her the ways of piracy, and soon she was scaling the rigging faster than any man and her ability to ride the wind was useful in working the sails. She learned to shoot a crossbow and she already was a decent pickpocket. Darrow referred to her as his own personal little whirlwind.

As she grew older Darrow’s enemies had another name for her. She was a welp, an imp, and a cyclone. Many thought Darrow had gone soft for her, but in the end he was just as strict on her, if not more. Darrow dealt with insubordination swiftly and readily, Brynn learned quickly.

She was Darrow’s eye in the sky, and made sneaking up on the ship difficult. She kept up her habit for mischief and as long as she didn’t interfere with his plans Darrow was often amused by her antics. He was the closest thing she’d ever had to a father.

One night a fire broke out, sinking the ship, Brynn later suspected that it was no accident, but on that night she found herself sinking deeper and deeper into the black sea fading out of consciousness. Conscious, she could hold her breath indefinitely, but a head injury compromised her state. She thought she would die below the waves, but then she woke up on a beach.

She doesn’t remember much, except a coldness coiling around her, a question in her mind, her answer: yes, and a burning across her torso and arms.

When she awoke she was marked with shimmering runes of imbedded crystal in her skin, and she found she had new abilities.  Now she is working towards finding her way, unsure what her second chance at life will hold.

She was still trying to figure out her new abilities when she found a group of ragtag scallywags and began adventuring with them.

Before she knew it she was their first mate and they were becoming more and more like family.

When a curse almost killed her she was saved again and  met her patron, the creature that saved her all those months ago.

She was confused by what this new revelation meant for her and more importantly her family.

She also learned that Darrow was alive, saved in a similar fashion to herself and was now working for the mysterious Black Sails.

Her own mind still in turmoil at the new revelations she still does her best to lead the crew fairly and make sure everyone is taken care of.
