A blighted forest.
Except for the Elf, for reasons of their own, no one is known to enter or leave the forest. While the Elf of Gurthame'a do occasionally engage in trade, this swaps occur on the outskirts of the forest.
Ever since the The Rising of the Dead, the forest has been full of them; and the cover of the trees has allowed them to stay out even during the day.
As the undead grow in numbers deep within Gurthame'a, the trees continue to wither and die. For this reason, a connection has long been hypothesized between the growing ranks of the dead, and the disease of the vegetation.
