Expedition 25- Asher's Account

Normally im not one to return the the scene of a crime, thats how most perps get caught after all, but what the hell if that short fella says he saw a passageway where he gutted that orc, might as well go to collect. So here we went tramping back all with our ducks and retainers in a row. The depths through some secret passageway were clear and untrapped so we legged it down the nearest hallway towards the signs of talkin. Inside we found some big fella with a scary axe, and his retainers before we iced him and his collection of gangly companions. That wast the last of it though, as I was featherin the tall one we got surrounded by their whole damn gang. As our hirelings held out I kept slingin bolts from this contraption of a shield crossbow I rigged myself, and slew no less than 20 of em. After there was more flesh than hallway they booked it, and we collected our spoils before hightailing it ourselves. A fine collection of ornate plate, and gold, but most importantly a weird lookin axe with some kinda scale on it, and who could forge that fine vintage?

But o'course I cant have nothin good for long. On our trip back we encountered some horrific creatures who refused to parlay with any reasonable terms, and jumped Alf and Artzua on their horses. Worst part? When I stuck one it didnt even flinch, just pulled the bolt right out of its rump, no blood or nothin, and laughed. Thats when it took the horse that was carrying the wine. I had a good feelin about that wine too. Some horrible demon got ahold of me though and rather than running to save the booze, I covered the escape of Artuza and Alf while they dismounted and booked it away from those horrific creatures. The question still haunts me though, what the hell were they doin so close to a town?
