Expedition 21A - Dalgarn's Account

Blue's Accounts 2021-10-14

Excerpt from the journal of a dwarf Dalgarn, the Bane of Rats, member of the Redwood Raiders.

Party is planning to deal with the castle once and for all. Shame about the cat people. Hate to see fellow industry professionals die. But... they chose wrong master to follow.

Piled our funds together. Me and Alf went out to recruit mercenaries, we'd use as distraction while we snarged from beneath.

Amos enchanted Alf's shield to absorb fire, should the warlock throw his flaming sorcery at us.

Recruiting could've gone better. We've got an eager leader for our troops, though I did not much like her remarks about slaying servants of chaos. Potential ally of the Rat King? Will have to keep an eye out on her.

The preparations are done. We head out towards the castle.

Our troops are in place. We'll sneak through the fallen siege tower entrance, just before the break of dawn.

We infiltrated the castle without an issue. Some of the doors gave us grief but they were nothing a sharp axe and a sturdy crowbar couldn't solve.

Moving up we heard a signal that our troops started the assault. Exploring the various room, Alf noticed a hidden door behind  one of the paintings.

We found trapdoor leading to the very top of the castle keep. As Alf poked his head up, warlock sent a bolt of arcane energy right at his face.

Flanked by two feline bodyguards, we had to fight our way through to get to the warlock.

Throwing a burning oil at him distracted him a little but eventually he managed to put to sleep everyone but Rarder, who resisted the  effects and Boots and Percival who stayed on the lower floor.

They slapped us awake and we fought back even more fiercely.

I personally manage to slice the warlock in twain with my new enchanted battle axe.

We still have some cat people to clean up but from the sounds of the battle, it seems our troops are doing well.
