Expedition 16 - Dalgarn's Account

Blue's Accounts 2021-09-02

Excerpt from the journal of Dalgarn the Bane of Rats, dwarf adventuring with Rarder and his companions.

Thought this town would be safer. No. I can hear them scurrying. Spying for their sniveling little king.

Convinced baron to send some scouts with us. Warlock that's holed up in that keep could be a real threat to the town.

That skeleton got me real good last time. Rarder let me borrow his magic shield. In just two days of rest, I was as fit as ever.

Returning to the caves under the keep, we heard sounds of battle. One of our kin fought a horde of skeletons and zombies.

We charged in. Alas he fell in battle. Enacting revenge upon his foes. A worthy way to go. May Brothers Above take his charred bones.

More undead emerged. Some of them casting foul magicks at us. Rarder and Rozza were knocked unconscious.

Were it not for Amos and Artzua the battle could've been lost. Though they worship weak gods, they have their uses.

Still Gregory fell and Hats was grievously injured.

Staniel, one of the Baron's scout boys, came running down mumbling about movement on the ramparts.

After the battle we went to retrieve some valuable statue Rader was talking about.

On our way we passed one of the foulest corridors I've seen. One of the cavern walls was no wall at all. Illusion! Fake stone! Grimel and Grom!

Statue was of elven craftsmanship. Unsurprisingly, imbued with magic. Amos got talking to it. Seemed utterly insufferable. Both of them.

If we're to convince the statue to fight for us we've got to travel to some pansy elven tower and get a proof that their civilization crumbled. Should be plenty of that there.
