Final preparations

Session 88
2023-03-09

After taking some wind-down time in the school's indoor garden, the guys are still celebrating in the Messhall when Sirona and Labrat arrive. Upon spotting, the Aasimar Ertherin says he's had enough drinks and needs rest and will think over Morbants offer to join the black banner, although he seems pretty content with hunting monsters as is. The male drow and the former torturing assistant give each other a nod but exchange no words.
Sirona sits down while L starts filling a new plate with more food. In the meantime, Irdien has finished some preparations and joined the group. She reminds them all that Pearl agreed to see them. But before they go, Morbrant asks Sirona if she knows more about the collection of organs that Ertherin experienced. What were they for, and how many were taken? Sirona says that she doesn't know for sure. It could be that the cult wanted a disgusting collection of organs for display, or they were building something. She reveals that stolen organs partially created Labrat but that she was present at her awakening as they needed a hefty amount of divine magic to make it work, and she has not been part of anything like that since. Mobrant suggests that might be why the cult wants Sirona back so severely then.
Since the group should meet Pearl as soon as possible, L lifts her full plate to eat it on the way. As they reach to door, Sirona knocks, and again, an image of Pearl appears, this time telling them that she will be with them shortly. The group waits, a little surprised that it takes so long to answer the door. Morbrant asks if there is something he needs to know not to bring up to offend the mage. Sirona tries to describe Pearl's detached yet friendly character as the mage arrives from behind them in the corridor led by Porter, a student tasked with guiding her until her eyesight return. She invites the group into her quarters and asks Porter to wait outside. Her room has dramatically changed since the last time anyone was here. Instead of the enchanted window with astounding shifting views, the room is windowless, and her furniture is simple and spars. She sits in one of the few remaining chairs and asks what the group seeks. Sirona explains that they need her to teleport them to Raven hill's farm because her family is in grave danger. Pearl says she could help them but must have seen where they wish to travel. She says she could extract an image of it from Sironas mind if the Aasimar lets her. Sirona says she will if that's what it takes but mentions that she didn't like it when Pearl sealed away her memories last time without asking. Pearl apologizes and reveals that the Grandmaster also scolded her for that, even if she meant it to help Sirona process her past. Irdien and Adrian quietly and stealthy high-five behind the back of their other friends at the fact that Pearl got a stern talking to because of this.
Pearl says she can teleport them instantly if that is what they want, but Morbant and Adrian insist that some group members need to sleep to regain their strength before they go. Irdien also asserts that she is still waiting for the members from Thanor'Thal to take on the mission request. Therefore, it is decided that the group will return at six in the morning with all accompanying allies for the teleportation. Most must be inside the Pocket portal since the spell can only take six people. Before the group leaves, Pearl hands back the note that Irdien left, saying that Porter only read the right side for her. Then as a last apology, she tells Sirona to open the wardrobe. Inside is a dark blue dress whit a skirt covered in a woven peacock feather pattern. The vibrant blue and green are the direct opposite of Sirona's red and gold outfits from her time trapped in the cult. She thanks Pearl for the gift and her help, and Morbant joins in to thank the sorceress profusely for helping them save the family.
Pearl mentions to Labrat and Sirona that the cult's estate in Dombuton
has been demolished as a final afterthought. She took a peek out of curiosity and found the site cordoned off for demonic cleansing. Adrian cheerily exclaims that it must be the excellent work of Commander Lexington Kane and his party, the Shields of Gold, whom they meet in Eldolan.
After leaving Pearl's quarters, the group makes their final preparations. First, Adrian makes a final round to enlist more monster hunters for the butt-kicking. Merthin accepts the offer and promises to be there at six; also, Jaz is informed about the time for the meat up. Adrian then spends significant time sharpening och polishing gear before ending the evening with some grooming. He will soon meet Sirona's parents and should make a good impression.
Morbrant rides out to the town of Tarkett, and with some aid from Adrian's pub owner friend Sindri, he manages to locate five Black banner members and convinces them to aid in their upcoming fight. Unfortunately, the tasks take a while, giving the veteran soldier less time for proper sleep.
Irdien is approached by her contact and told that five members of the Thanor'Thal gang have agreed to help for the price of 1000 gold. They will be at the school by six in the morning. She thanks Corder for his swiftness and leaves to find an empty room with a fireplace. She picks the lock to a journeyman guestroom and enters. In this found privacy, she unpacks a few items and pieces of paper. First, she lays out three throwing starts and a vambrace. All of which were gifts she once received from Jak. Then she takes out the scathing letter that his former lover wrote to him along with the farewell letter he wrote for Irdien.
Putting the first letter in the fire, she reads a prayer for the woman she's only seen once in the coffin aboard the ship, taking them to Shadow Port. Then she takes her letter from Jak and burns it silently, watching the flames consume the paper entirely. As she rises, she can feel the attunement to her magic ear pice dwindle out and disappear. She puts it in the pile with the other trinkets and proceeds to hide them inside the room before heading back to the dorm for the night.
