Arilar

The Land:

Arilar is an independent village that resides a few miles away from the initial branch of the Mitera River. It lies on lush plains bordering a forest and has achieved self-sustainability with the wealth of farmland around them and by taking advantage of the trees, and nearby river which acts as a wealth of fish and recreational activities. They also experience a natural migration of multiple herds of megafauna that fuel their meat supply year-round. They are lucky to not have to deal with monstrous beasts too often.

The City:

The city is a small village that was formed generations ago by migrants from other kingdoms looking for independence from their rule. This is a common trend in Estir, and each independent village or city has its own rules and goal for existing. The formation of Arilar was simply the coming together of friends who sought adventure, had seen enough of the world and settled down in this area to lead lives together. They each started a family but their names have been lost to time, their legacy remains however in a tradition of pilgrimage.

The People:

The people of Arilar lead happy and humble lives, farming the land and enjoying time with friends and family. There is a tradition among these folk of pilgrimage, honoring the lives of those adventurers who formed this village long ago. Each generation forms into their own friend groups and creates an adventuring party, they take up a name that means something to them and vow to keep it as long as they are together. They take a vow of friendship and kinsmanship, promising to stay at each other’s side no matter what. Till death do they part. It is a platonic marriage of sorts, an arrangement that binds them together under a banner by tradition.

The Government:

The village is led by a mayor, a female human by the name of Tadhis Vronzevo who is approaching the age of 42.  She is quite humble and in no way oppressive. Any rulings are voted upon by the entire town democratically and as such the position of mayor is simply symbolic, elected upon every four years. Tadhis has held this position for nearly 16 years now.

Criminals:

Crime only comes in the way of visitors and the occasional rowdy kid, visitors are jailed and sent back to their respective lands or, if need be, executed in private and given a funeral by fire. It seems grim, but they do not give proper burials to criminals.

Trade:

Arilar, despite its quaint village appearance, is actually quite a wealthy place because they have a rare export. Bees. They farm the large bees that reside in this area of Estir, far from modern civilization. They export large amounts of honey, bee meat as a delicacy or for medicinal purposes, and even poison from their stingers. These exotic goods bring them quite a wealth of money, making them a very happy and prosperous little farming village.
